It is
centrally located for day trips to the east, west and north
coasts of the Scottish Highlands, taking in quaint fishing
villages, remote lochs, tumbling rivers and waterfalls, all
amidst some of the most magnificent mountain scenery in
Europe.
Close by are the Highland Spa town
of Strathpeffer with its imposing Victorian architecture and
the pretty little place of Beauly with its Priory. Day trips can easily be made to places
such as Ullapool, Gairloch, Inverewe Gardens, the Castle &
Gardens of Mey, the Falls of Shin Visitor Centre and the
Isle of Skye. Also within easy reach are Loch Ness and the
beautiful Glen
Affric.
The city of Inverness,
capital of the Highlands, is 20 minutes away by car (or you
can use the train or bus) and, just beyond, the lovely Speyside area of malt whisky distillery fame.
